This program prepares students interested in mathematics for teaching at the secondary level. Students are encouraged to participate in on-campus teaching experiences that parallel their coursework, available for freshmen and sophomores. Interested students are encouraged to contact the department for additional details and information on teacher support programs.
An undergraduate major in mathematics is good preparation for a variety of careers, many of which make no special use of mathematics itself, but do require the ability to reason carefully and express oneself clearly. Explore careers as an actuary, applied mathematician, pure mathematician, secondary school mathematics teacher, statistician and other options.
