Abstract: We model the elastic properties of wood by treating it as a body that satisfies the generalized Hooke law, and so its stress tensor is a linear function of its strain. It has three mutually orthogonal planes of symmetries at each point, the lines parallel to the fiber grains, the radial axis normal to the growth rings, and the tangential axis.
