We are accepting applications for the 2016 HHMI Faculty Scholar Program from interested faculty members teaching physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics courses. This opportunity is funded through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and it provides funding and support to selected faculty members teaching physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics. Faculty scholars are supported throughout a year in which they transform a course they teach. They redesign their course with support during the spring and summer, and implement and assess the revised curriculum during the following fall and spring. Faculty members in biology, chemistry, physics and math can apply to the program through two opportunities: (1) Individual Application to reform a single course or (2) Group Application for teams of faculty members reforming a single course in concert. Benefits include: (1) Opportunity to improve teaching with help; (2) Participation in summer course design institute with the Center for Advancement of Teaching; (3) Three weeks of summer salary; (4) $2,000 overload (Extra State compensation) during course transformation; (5) Eligible for research supplement to write a manuscript of results; (6) Eligible for travel funds.
