Summer Research at FIU

The MAA, through NREUP, is funding us again for a six-week summer research program. This time six students are getting stipends for that: Alexander Tepper (math), Andres Cubas (math), Renzo Alvares (math, phiosophy, economics), Lisandra Hernandez (math, chemistry), Arturo Leon (physics, math), and Pierre Avila (physics). This Summer is becoming a huge success and a very busy one - with grad students, and with undergrads.
Second NSF Grant Awarded

Assistant Professor Xiaosheng Li has been awarded a grant by the National Science Foundation to study Inverse Boundary Value Problems with Incomplete Data. Dr. Li plans to investigate the inverse problems for systems of partial differential equations and the inverse problems on unbounded domains over the next three years. Just in: Associate Professor Cao has been awarded an NSF grant to do mathematical analysis, over the next three years, of certain geophysical and fluid dynamics models.

The Induction Ceremony for the 8th cohort of the McNair post-baccalaureate program at FIU was held Monday, March 28th. Five of our majors will have research grants this summer, mostly with the McNair program.
